About the Author Ron Hirschi graduated with a degree in fish and wildlife ecology and worked for many years protecting the habitats of many animals. He has written more than fifty nature books for young readers and continues to work with kids on ocean, stream, and pond projects. He has spent time studying albatrosses on Midway Atoll, using that experience to help kids find their own ways of stopping the spread of harmful plastic pollution. He and his wife live in Poulsbo, Washington, not far from their grown daughter and son-in-law.
About the llustrator Anna McDonnell is a lifelong artist who currently lives in Washington state. A progressive student of the arts, most notably the art of animation, she has been the recipient of awards that have funded her pursuit to bring beautiful characters and stories to life. Other specializations include traditional drawing, painting, charcoal, digital arts, and cartooning.
